Some website typos make you cringe – spelling mistakes can set your teeth on edge, and dodgy grammar can make your wince. But this typographical error, from the website of the Moffat House Hotel I want to treasure.

What a picture it conjures: Maybe a  Chateau Haut Brion, a Lafite Rothschild and a splendid Marques de Vargas Rioja gathered around your plate and with admiring looks commenting:

“I say, what beautiful slice of beef you are”

“Those sprouts so – green and cute, I could eat you up”

“I’ve never seen asparagus looking so elegant”

Before hopping over to the next table to praise a particularly fine aroma from the sticky toffee pudding with warm butterscotch sauce.

I’ve eaten there a few times, and enjoyed it. I’ll go again, just to watch out for the charming wines.

I think I’ll lie down, now.
